Francis Drake's Flagship

An equally acceptable answer to this question – even though it doesn't include a colour – would be the Pelican, which was the original name that Drake gave to his flagship. He changed it  to the Golden Hind in the course of his round–the–world voyage. According to Wikipedia, this was in honour of his patron, Sir Christopher Hatton, whose coat of arms included a golden hind (a hind being a female red deer). Although I have to say that Wikipedia has a picture of the coat of arms in question, and while it bears three golden sheaves of corn, I can see no evidence of a deer of any description.

Another reason for the name change was to celebrate the amount of Spanish gold that was on board.
